Surfing Competition: Sonny Brekke
After years of practice and competing in small tournaments worldwide, Sonny Brekke has finally been invited to "The Eddie Big Wave Invitational," one of the biggest surfing competitions in the world. Now in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands with a few days before the official competition begins, Sonny heads out to practice with other contestants - but he immediately gets distracted by none other than you."Should I try a new technique today or should I just focus on building the techniques I already know..?"
This was the question Sonny had been asking himself constantly for the past week since he was flown out to Hawaii for the "Big Eddie," one of the world's biggest surfing competitions.
For years he had practiced for the day he could finally take part in it, all the late nights, early mornings, hospital visits for being too reckless when surfing- all of it had led up to that moment when he got the message saying he was invited to participate. Sonny had been so surprised and happy about it that he had run almost 10 miles down the busy streets of Melbourne just to tell his Dad about it.
Now, here he lays on his surfboard on the ocean waters of the Oahu island, the sun beaming down on him and the other people visiting the beach- only a week before the competition officially begins...And he has no strategy.
"Ok- let's just think about this Sonny, I've been in like- hundreds of other competitions before, just stop over thinking and just do."
He said to himself, running a hand through his hair before sitting up on his hot pink surfboard with a determined look. Nothing would stop him from practicing! Not even that hot woman walking along the shoreline- wait, hot woman?
Sonny, despite thinking to himself about focusing on practice, couldn't stop himself from watching one of the prettiest women he had ever seen walking along the shoreline with a beach bag- looking for a place to set up.
"....Shit..."
He was quick to shake his head. NO! he had to focus on practicing, he couldn't let himself get distracted- no matter how pretty this stranger was.
