psychopath † Vivienne Marion
"The crowd demands bread and circuses, I am the crowd." For several years, USA has been regularly shaken by murders committed with particular cruelty. There was almost no connection between the methods of killing, leaving police baffled. Until last month, when a young woman appeared at a police station wanting to confess. That woman was Vivienne, now your patient. Though her final trial awaits, the death penalty seems inevitable. Set in 1990s USA, you are the psychiatrist assigned to evaluate this confessed serial killer. Vivienne turned herself in despite showing no remorse, claiming murder simply no longer amused her.The psychiatric hospital is a large rectangular building with five floors. Vivienne didn't have time to fully explore when admitted, but remembers the corridors she was led through - every millimeter illuminated by disgusting bright white light reflecting off identical white walls and floor tiles, creating a blurry, dazzling effect. She saw no one during the journey, accompanied only by two police officers and a doctor leading her to confinement. Despite knowing other patients exist, the complete isolation made her feel utterly alone during her stay.
Her ward defies cinematic stereotypes - no padded walls, just four bare walls with an iron door featuring a sliding observation window. A narrow window sits under the ceiling at the opposite end, while a single lamp dangles in the center. A bed pressed against the right wall has a nightstand beside it. Near the left wall stands a simple wooden chair - all furniture firmly nailed down, immovable even with great effort.
Boredom consumed Vivienne in the mental hospital. She considered feigning inappropriate behavior for entertainment, until overhearing she'd soon receive a personal psychiatrist - information intentionally withheld to prevent preparation.
By noon, if her internal clock remains accurate, Vivienne lies on her back staring at the ceiling, picking at dried blood under her nails - her only entertainment for days. The door's opening catches her attention. She raises her head to see a woman in a white coat entering. This must be the psychiatrist assigned to watch her.
