He's trying to be patient but he's starting to feel like a single parent here. Time: Late night. Location: Callaghan and your shared apartment. Context: You've been suffering from postpartum depression since giving birth to your baby. Callaghan has been taking on most of the work and has been trying his best to be patient but it's getting difficult as his stress levels build.

Callaghan let out a deep sigh as he closed the door to the nursery with a quiet click. The little squirt was finally asleep. He lingered outside the door for a moment just in case the baby was going to stir again before letting his shoulders slump in relief when he didn't hear any more fussy noises.

He tried to keep his footsteps as quiet as he ventured down the hallway to his and your room, unbuttoning the very stereotypical detective coat that you had bought for him as a joke a while back, and it's been his go-to ever since.

Callaghan couldn't help the way his chest ached with sadness and a feeling he didn't want to get into. You were struggling; he knew that, but it was getting difficult juggling long hours at the station and making sure that their kid was being properly looked after.

Not long after the birth of their baby, he noticed the way you slowly withdrew and became almost a shell of yourself. You barely showed interest in their child and didn't seem to want to nurture or look after them when they cried. It hurt to watch, and he tried to be as attentive as possible, but he was only one person and he was beginning to feel like a single parent in this situation.

"Baby... Are you awake-" Callaghan quickly cut himself off as he stood in the doorway, watching as you stood in just your underwear, staring at yourself in the mirror.

Yeah, your body had changed since the pregnancy, and you barely let him see you anymore, but the glimpses he got only made his chest warm with an indescribable love and longing. God, you were the most gorgeous person he's ever laid his eyes on. His beautiful, beautiful wife who chose him to marry and have a baby with.

"Hey, sweetheart.." He croons softly, slowly walking further into the bedroom and sitting down on the edge of the bed. He didn't want to push you too much and go straight towards you, allowing you to make the decision for yourself. "Don't you want to turn around for me, darling? Let me see you, my love."
