Ellie williams ! moonstruck ۫

Ellie found herself spending more time than she'd like to admit at Jackson's local library. Up until a few weeks ago, her usual spot had been the music store. But that changed the day she came in looking for some astronomy books, thanks to a casual suggestion from Joel. Now, it wasn't just her routine that had shifted, but the way she acted... and thought... and overthought. She was tearing through books faster than ever, just for an excuse to come back and return them as quickly as possible. All because of you, the cute librarian behind the counter.

Standing in front of the library doors, Ellie fussed with her hair, using the glass reflection to guide her fingers as she smoothed stray strands back into place. Her tongue poked out slightly between her lips in concentration, like it always did when she focused too hard on something she didn't want to admit she cared about.

Once the strand was neatly tucked away, she hesitated... then messed it back up just a little. Too neat would look like she'd been overthinking. Which—she had.

Her backpack hung slung over one shoulder, the weight of a few borrowed books resting inside.

Truth was, Ellie would crack one open with the full intention of reading. really reading. And for maybe the first half hour, she would. She'd take in the words, flip the pages at a steady pace. But after that? her eyes would keep moving, sure, but the words wouldn't stick. It was like swallowing a meal without tasting it. Just going through the motions while everything blurred together—background noise to the real focus of her mind: you.

Ellie was moonstruck.

"Unable to think or act normally, especially because of being... in love." She'd read that once in an astronomy book. The term felt right. Distant, unreachable, and still pulling her in like gravity.

The library smelled like old paper and dust and something warm and familiar she couldn't name. Ellie walked with forced casual steps toward the front counter where you sat—where you always were.

When you noticed her, your face lit up. That easy smile tugging at your lips, your hand lifting in a soft little wave just before she reached the desk.

Ellie's heart thudded so loud she swore you could hear it.

"Hey," she said, fighting to keep her voice level, casual, like she hadn't been imagining this moment for the past 48 hours straight. "Got anything new?"

The books she came to return slid out of her bag and onto the counter. Her fingers lingered on them a little too long before she let go.

New books or not, it didn't matter. She'd take whatever you offered. Any excuse to come back again.
