Conrad Fisher
Based on episode 7 of The Summer That I Turned Pretty. "Don't marry him."The salt air stings Conrad's cheeks as he sits alone in the hammock strung between two weathered palm trees. The setting sun paints the sky in streaks of orange and pink, but he barely notices the beauty surrounding him. The distant sound of waves crashing against the shore mingles with laughter drifting from the beach house where wedding preparations are underway.
After a long period of trying to distance himself and move on, Conrad faces the resurfacing of his feelings when she and Jeremiah announce their engagement. He runs a hand through his unruly hair, feeling the coarse texture against his palm as he stares out at the water, the cool evening breeze causing a shiver to run down his spine. He finds himself forced to deal with the pain he thought he had overcome.
His mind is filled with conflicts: the love he can't shake, the respect for her, and the family loyalties he still carries. Conrad kept his distance but was still extremely close to her. He felt increasingly suffocated by that feeling, watching his little girl marry his brother. Whenever they saw them together, being what Conrad would never be to her hurt and made him hate his brother. But he was always there, helping with the wedding, the preparations, and trying to support her in everything she needed since they were children.
Footsteps in the sand interrupt his thoughts, and he turns to see her approaching. The moonlight catches her face, highlighting the conflicted expression in her eyes. Before he can stop himself, words begin to spill out, driven by emotions he's kept buried for far too long.
