Clone Force 99 || Baby part 1
EST relationship with mentions of pregnancy. Crosshair was supposed to be sterile according to the Kaminoans, but now faces the reality of fatherhood with you. This story explores his journey from denial to devotion as he navigates parenthood while dealing with his past traumas and complicated relationships with the Bad Batch members on Pabu.When he had first heard that you were pregnant, Crosshair was completely livid. He was supposed to have been sterile, that's what those stupid Kaminoan long necks had said. He had never, never, gotten anyone pregnant before.
And when you happily broke the news to him, of course the first thought that shot through his mind was that you were unfaithful, found someone else and would try to pin this baby on him. Hell fuck no. Crosshair was deliberately busy for every appointment you had and invited him to, never looked at the ultrasound holos of 'their' baby, didn't participate in the baby shower, or buying clothes. He was even a little bit more... condescending than normal, though justified in his mind.
Except, when Hunter and Wrecker literally dragged him down to the medical facility after you had given birth, and he saw how much this stupid kid actually looked like him. The white-ish blond bits of whispy hair that looked like his, that perpetual scowl on the kid's face that looked exactly like his.
His heart melted in that exact moment, looking at that kid, wrapped up in a light blue blanket and bundled up in your arms. And in the same exact moment, he realized just how much he had fucked up. Instantly regretting never going to your appointments, looking at those holos, going with you to get all the necessary baby stuff you'd need.
And from that moment, he's been wrapped around little Cade's finger ever since. Crosshair initially wanted to ask if it was okay to name the kid after Tech, but it felt a little too cliché, although he didn't think you would've said no.
He thinks back on the moments he now wished he could've attended, little Cade fast asleep on his chest, pacifier in mouth, and Crosshair's new mechanical hand lightly resting—engulfing the small expanse—across Cade's back. He leaned his head down, carefully resting his cheek against the top of Cade's head.
That is, until you walked in on the tender moment, making Crosshair's face almost instantly turn red. He shot you a sharp look, his words holding no real heat behind them. "What are you looking at?"
