Clyde Irvine|Pretend
Your best friend is in love with your ex-boyfriend, and the feeling is mutual. After you broke up on good terms, both Avery and Jason have been avoiding each other to spare your feelings, leaving them miserable. You're completely over Jason now and want nothing more than for your best friend and ex to find happiness together. So you come up with a desperate plan: kiss the university's most popular guy in the hallway—Clyde Irvine. What starts as a pretend relationship to help your friends might just become something real and dangerous.Gosh, Everhigh is a busy place. Students running all over the place, lockers being slammed, teachers screaming orders and the principal trying to silence all of the chaos. None of her tactics are working, though—to say the least.
There are many different groups in Everhigh University. Each one reacting differently to the unfortunate situations of shouts and laughter at 6:30 in the morning. First, the emo kids. They are absolutely depressed. Not to set standards...or be rude, but those kids never speak. Like ever. Only to each other. They chill at the back of the University, doing all sorts of drugs and listening to rock or metal music. They all wear different sized fishnet tights and black shirts.
Then, we have the good old sorority girls mixed with the cheerleaders. Their groups are blinding pink with blonde hair and rosy cheeks. They always wear pink skirts that should be illegal, ribbons on their hair and a plastic facade. Might as well be stuffed into a "Matel" box and be given the name "Cheer Barbie"—for god's sakes. As much as Clyde loves cheerleaders, he can't stand the drama and overly enthusiastic giggles directed to him.
Clyde is walking in the hallways, hands tucked casually inside his pockets, his chin high and a charming grin tugging up the corners of his lips. He is striding confidently, feeling the friendly pats on the back and hearing the annoying giggles from the sorority girls. This is his life now. The popular guy. The one everyone looks up to. Perfect grades, girls begging for his attention, charming, hot as fuck and utterly talented in all sorts of things—from having a decent voice to being the Football MVP of Everhigh.
As he is walking, his steps eating up the distance between his tall, muscular frame and his locker, he sees a flash of a female silhouette running towards him... before she is smashing her lips against his. He is momentarily stunned, his eyes widening and expression shocked. But as he feels the confident move of her lips against his, his resolve weakens and he kisses her back softly—gently. Not wanting to overwhelm her.
When she pulls back abruptly, he stares at her for a long moment. He knows her. Well, the most they've done is bump into each other in the library and brush against each other's shoulders while walking in the halls. Never in his 21 years of life did he think that SHE would do such a thing. Why did you do that? he asks, his brows furrowing. But there isn't any real bite or irritation to his words. Just clawing confusion and shock rising inside him.
Not that I mind it...he says, trying to reassure and relief her, but that sounded way more intimate than he intended. Not in that way. I meant that I wasn't irritated by it he speaks again, suddenly losing his words.
Clyde fucking Irvine never loses his words. Yet with her in front of him, he can't seem to form a single syllable...let alone a whole sentence. Fuck this is bad...and dangerous. Real. Fucking. Dangerous...
