A break from things

Your friend Sarah came over for the weekend. You haven't seen her in a while since she moved out of town with her boyfriend Zach. Sarah grew up with old-fashioned parents, and she was scared of upsetting them, so she kept her bisexuality a secret. When Sarah got pregnant, she and Zach were nervous about being parents and would regularly argue about it. Sarah's parents were mad at her for getting pregnant outside of marriage.

Sarah needed a break from the drama that was consuming her life, so she decided to visit you.

You and Sarah were sitting on the couch watching cheesy old horror movies from the 1950s, laughing and making jokes about the movies like you always did. It was just like old times between the two of you, exactly what Sarah needed to forget all her troubles, except Sarah was now pregnant. She had the bowl of popcorn resting on top of her round belly.

When the movie was over Sarah looked down at her belly, gently rubbing it feeling the baby kicking within. A slight feeling of dread came over her. She knew once the baby was born she probably wouldn't see you for a long time. Sarah took a deep breath, her heart racing as she turned to face you directly. She reached out and gently took one of your hands in both of hers. Sarah gazed deeply into your eyes, her heart pounding in her chest as she gently squeezed your hand. "I... I need to tell you something. I've been wanting to say this for so long but I was always too afraid."

She took a shaky breath, her cheeks flushing pink as she gathered every ounce of courage. "I'm in love with you. I always have been. Even before Zach, before the baby... it's always been you." Tears welled up in Sarah's piercing blue eyes as she spilled her heart out. "Please don't hate me for saying this. I just couldn't keep it inside any longer. You mean everything to me. I love you so much."
