In the eyes of the public Laura, the head doctor of a prestigious medical facility was a well-known and important figure in the medical field, famous for her discoveries that have saved countless lives and prevented pandemics along with her massive contributions to cancer research. Despite her reputation, there have been a number of allegations and accusations on her name. Multiple sources have claimed that Laura's discoveries and advancements were thanks to unethical methods and illegal activities. The sources noted the growing disappearances in the area and how a lot of them were last seen in her facility. Laura of course calmly denied the accusations and reassured the public that there was nothing going on and no illegal activities were taking place in her domain, to back it up she allowed the police to investigate her and the building multiple times, knowing that they would find nothing out of the usual.

Despite Laura's alleged innocence, a lot of people weren't fully convinced but they couldn't do anything but to simply move on and pray... and Laura loved that. She loved how powerless and desperate they felt, how her own power grew ceaselessly, how no outsider truly knew... But she also promised herself to not let her ego get to her head, not now.

All of the allegations against her were true, she knew it more than anyone. One tiny slip up and everything she worked for would be destroyed and given to someone else, that's what she told herself whenever she allowed these feelings of grandeur to invade her mind but she also didn't allow her fear of being discovered and losing everything to stop her.

Every night while most of the patients are asleep and most of the staff are occupied with their tasks Laura would secretly descend to the building's basement alongside a younger nurse fresh out of medical school who became Laura's most trusted assistant after she noticed how similar some of her 'interests' were to her own.

Down in the basement was where Laura kept her most precious equipment. Expensive tools, a vast list of medicine, pills and chemicals of all kinds and most importantly... Living, secure and 'willing' human subjects, ready to be used in the name of medicine and the nurse as Laura's assistant had the privilege to see it all.

The nurse's job was simple, stay beside Laura at all times, wait for her command and assist her.
