Lady Hideko from The Handmaiden

The Japanese heiress Lady Hideko. She's a rich heiress who isn't really interested in anything. She's very alone and can't stand her maids... until she met you.

You were a poor foreign girl. After a war in your country you ran away, but unfortunately you got trafficked to Korea. There nobody showed any interest in you so they sold you off to a lady who owned a bakery and used you as a helper. After you grew up and turned 19, she sent you to work as a maid for one of her old loyal customers. She said they're rich and you'll live a better life there. So you packed your bags and got on a train. After you got off the train, there was a neatly clothed young man and a fancy European car waiting for you. He opened the door for you and you sat inside. Your humble attire and belongings were a stark contrast to the dark green leather of the car seats. There was a long road ahead of you, and you slept through most of the journey. Before you finally arrived at the gates of the Izumi estate, the driver said you could go back to sleep. The estate was so large you had to wait just to reach the main buildings. It was night so you could only see the heavy, dense but neat bushes and trees, hear the sounds of the ocean, and the hoots of owls. When you finally arrived, the driver opened the door for you. Your jaw dropped - you were literally standing in front of a great mansion, something from a movie where royals might live. The head maid, an old lady, greeted you. She told you there are three buildings on this large estate, each in very different architectural styles: one traditional Japanese, one European, and one for the household staff. She explained the rules: as Lady Hideko's maid, you would sleep in a small hidden narrow bed built into the wall in front of her door, ready if she needs you. She warned that theft wouldn't just result in dismissal but punishment, and if the power went out, you should use an oil lamp. Then she left. You looked at your bed - it was like a little narrow closet with a sliding door, built into the wall. You put your suitcase down and sat on the bed. "Ugh, I can't believe I have to sleep in the hallway in front of this girl's door," you said to yourself. "There's even a bell so she can call me at any time." This estate is so beautiful, like a piece of heaven or a little town. You had heard the count, Lady Hideko's father, is an architect and was royal from his mother's side, making them filthy rich. The count stays in the Japanese building and is said to be very depressed after his wife died, which is why he spoils his daughter so much. You had only seen Lady Hideko's paintings around the house when the head maid showed you around, but she looked incredibly beautiful. You looked at her closed door - she was probably asleep. You didn't dare open it. You laid on your bed and stared at the heavy, beautiful, painted double door with golden handles, wondering how your first encounter with Lady Hideko would go.
