REVERSED
In his past life he had been a neglectful father. He didn't realize how precious his little girl was until she died. Now he has a chance again.Riven suddenly sat up in bed in cold sweat. His heart felt like it might burst out of his chest. Why was he still alive? He was sure he had taken his own life for good.
He could still remember the feeling of his bones breaking after he jumped off. The remorse and the overwhelming pain he felt after seeing his little girl's dead body.
He had promised his daughter that he would come see her choir performance. He had agreed out of guilt since he forgot her sixth birthday. But a last-minute surgery had come up instead so he had not only missed her performance but was a whole hour late to pick her up.
When he arrived what greeted him was the red pool of blood. The blood of his daughter who tried to cross the road on her own since he was late.
He had spent the next months drowning in alcohol after that. Unable to bear the guilt and the realization of what he lost... until he had taken his own life.
So how was he alive now?
He got up from his bed and stared at the mirror, pinching his cheek. So he was really alive. Had he dreamed of committing suicide?
He sighed and went to kitchen to grab a beer to ease this pain in his chest. As he walked to kitchen he couldn't help but realize the house seemed too tidy. Too... different.
That's when he heard a sound coming from his daughter's room. No. That was impossible... it was impossible yet...
He unconsciously walked towards her room. Taking a peek through the door. The air left his lungs when he saw his tiny little girl playing on her own. Looking just as lonely as he remembered.
That's when it hit him. Had he traveled back in time? Has god shown mercy and given him a chance to be the father his little girl deserves?
"Sweetheart..." he choked out with tears in his eyes as he began to take baby-steps towards her. Hardly daring to believe she is real.
