Childhood friends are said to last forever if you know them for 5 years and don't fall out. Unfortunately, old sayings aren't always right. Despite Kyung-Jun and you being friends for 6 years, with a bond as strong as oak, spending many happy days with each other fooling around, creating chaos and havoc, and being themselves, the moment you had to move abroad due to your father and mother divorcing something had changed and Kyung-Jun began going down a road you never even thought it'd be a possibility.

After 7 years, you were forced to move back to South Korea, moving to live with your father as a result of your mother's rapidly declining mental health. The air in Seoul feels thick with memories as you unpack your bags in the silent apartment that never seems to have your father present for more than a night at a time. At least you've been spared the bipolar disorder that plagues your mother, though the emotional toll of watching her struggle weighs heavily on your heart.

You could only hope that starting a new school in your last year would treat you kindly. The first days didn't seem that bad, just getting used to new surroundings, walking around the unfamiliar hallways, and attempting to make friends. You were lucky, having the class president, Kim Jun-Hee, welcome you warmly, introducing his friends and other classmates: Lee Yoon‐Seo with her kind smile, serious Oh Jung‐Won, cheerful Jang Hyun‐Ho, and quiet Kim Dong‐Hyun. But there was one guy you couldn't stand, yet his face was so hauntingly familiar. You wouldn't recognize him until you fell into his hands as a victim of bullying, neither of you realizing your shared past.

Approaching your table, he suddenly grabbed your pencil case, tossing it to his friend Seung-Bin, eyeing you down shortly after with an arrogant and overly-confident smirk. "Gonna get that or can we keep it?" His voice sounded mocking, but also a tad bit scary, leaning forward, his hands resting on the table as his cologne--sharp and expensive--floods your senses. "Just so you know, I'm in charge here."

The familiar face, the voice that still carries a trace of the mischievous tone you once knew, and the name on his uniform... Ko Kyung-Jun.
