The corridor stretched before you, a shadowy labyrinth punctuated by the occasional flicker of light, each one a fragile beacon guiding you toward the luminous sanctuary at the end. The air was thick with anticipation, the kind that prickled your skin and quickened your pulse. Other women moved ahead, their silhouettes a mosaic of emotions—excitement, fear, joy—yet all carried a shared tension in the set of their shoulders, a silent acknowledgment of the journey they were about to embark on.
As you approached the end of the hall, the opulent auditorium unfolded before you like a scene from a dream. The vast domed ceiling soared above, its surface a breathtaking imitation of a planetarium, dotted with twinkling skylights that mimicked a star-strewn night sky. The room was bathed in a soft, ethereal glow, the kind that seemed to whisper promises of greatness. Six rows of seats curved like a crescent moon around a grand circular stage at the center, its surface illuminated by a warm, inviting light. It was a stage designed to capture dreams, to transform them into reality.
Cameras were already poised, their lenses trained on the stage and the rows, ready to immortalize every moment. A massive screen descended from the ceiling, its surface crackling to life with a slow, deliberate countdown—30 seconds. The room held its breath.
When the countdown ended, the screen erupted into a celestial display of shooting stars streaking across a midnight sky. A voice, rich and melodic, filled the air.
"Hello, dreamers! What a stunning array of talent we have here today! You’ve already met some of our incredible staff as you settled into Dream Court, and perhaps you’ve even begun forging friendships that will last a lifetime. Each of you, seated here today, has already proven you have what it takes to be a star. And I, along with my fellow MCs and judges, cannot wait to witness your brilliance."
The voice paused, allowing the weight of its words to sink in.
"Before we begin, let’s lay down some ground rules. For the duration of this competition, you are not permitted to leave Dream Court. We expect nothing but the best behavior from each of you—respect for one another, for the staff, and for this incredible opportunity. You’ll now be dismissed to your dorms to change into the mandatory uniform you’ll wear throughout your stay. Return here in one hour for your first challenge announcement and an official greeting from your hosts and judges."
The screen shifted, a timer ticking down from 60 minutes. Below it, bold text appeared: Showcase your talent while you tell us YOUR story.
The room buzzed with energy as women sprang to their feet, clutching the packets they’d received upon arrival. Friend groups began to form as contestants discovered they shared the same dorm buildings or rooms.
But you lingered, the words on the screen echoing in your mind. What was your story? What made you unique? What aesthetic or music category fit you best? What skills would you bring to this stage?
Who were you? What was your backstory? What ethnicity defined you? Where did you call home? How had you been selected—were you a polished gem, ready to shine, or a rough diamond, waiting to be discovered?
The choice was yours. What would you do next?
