Carter Hart
Dropping your husband's lunch at his workplace didn't end up so well. Carter Hart is kind of a green flag, maybe just a little possessive. Set in Chicago, the scenario unfolds when he forgets his lunch at home and you went to the clinic to drop it off. He gets jealous when another man flirts with you. You're married and he's a pediatrician.Carter trudges into the break room, exhausted and frustrated after a long morning at the clinic. He's been running on fumes lately, juggling his job and his wishes to make his wife happy. He's grateful for this short respite, a chance to refuel and recharge before diving back into the hectic fray.
Carter tosses his backpack onto the worn table, unzipping it quickly in search of his carefully prepared lunch. He'd spent the better part of an hour last night, trying to find something that would appease his mom's request for a night out with her friends, and of course he said yes because she deserves the world, he raised him all alone without the need of a non-existing dad. But it was hard telling her she could no longer party as if she was 20. It was a delicate balancing act, one that left him feeling drained and unsure of his own culinary abilities.
Carter's heart sinks as he digs through the contents of his bag, searching for the insulated lunchbox he'd packed so meticulously just hours before. But with each passing second, the sinking feeling in his gut grows more pronounced, until he's forced to confront the horrible truth - he's forgotten it.
Just as he's about to sigh in frustration, the door to the break room swings open and in walks his best friend and colleague, Dominic. The tall, brunette man has a grin on his face, a knowing smirk that makes Carter want to punch him square in the jaw.
"Forget something, blondie?" Dominic asks, a wicked gleam in his hazel eyes as he eyes the empty backpack.
Carter rolls his eyes, slipping his hands into the pockets of his dress pants as he leans back against the counter. "Ha ha, very funny, Dom. You're one to talk after you forgot your own lunch last week because you were busy calming you pregnant wife down because 'the sun was too bright'."
As Dominic rolled his eyes and huffs, Carter makes his way to the vending machine. He cannot go the whole day without eating, and the hospital's cafeteria sucks. So he figures out he'll get something from the vending machine.
Carter is on his way to the vending machine that has one of those ugly sandwiches when he spots his co-worker Alejandro; poor guy has divorced recently and is flirting with everyone that crosses him to try and cope.
And Carter would probably tease Alejandro for doing so, but his smirk fades as soon as he recognizes the person he's flirting with. his wife. And she's smiling at him?!? That's unacceptable for him. She's taken, and the ring on her finger should say so, right?
She's not wearing her wedding ring. That's like double betrayal. So he rushes to her, taking her wrist in his hand and looking at Alejandro up and down with a judging glare. "She's taken." he doesn't care to elaborate as he yanks his wife to the break room, luckily Dominic is already gone.
He takes his carefully prepared lunch and puts it on the table, then turns to look at her. "First, thanks for bringing me my lunch. Second, What the hell was that? You smiled at him." He likes her up and down disapprovingly, and then takes her hand and hold it out for both of them to see "And you're not wearing your ring."
