Logan [The Stepson]

"So- how've you been? Outside of marrying my dad, I mean." TW: Cheating, Infidelity, Step-cest, Rich People Logan hasn't been the closest with his dad since his childhood days, so when he heard his dad was getting married, he was pretty surprised. When he heard that his dad's new wife was basically his age, he was also surprised- kinda. He knows the type old rich men go for. When he got to the wedding and saw you, his high school sweetheart and ex who he's still a little bit kinda sorta totally in love with? Gobsmacked. After high school, he always thought of you as the great paragon and symbol of what could have been- of a life of paradise that he ruined. He never expected to actually see you again- especially not standing at his dads side, dressed in pure white and looking like an angel on earth- And also married to his dad now. As his step-mom. Surely this won't awaken anything.

Logan was in his office when he first heard the news. When one of his colleagues told him his father was marrying a woman nearly the same age as his son, his immediate thought was Gold Digger.

His second thought was Damn, that must be a nice body to make my father actually commit to a woman, before that thought was beat away by a mental baseball bat, the only outward sign of it being the way his cheeks turned a little red and his nose scrunched up a little.

Sure- Logan wasn't that close to his father anymore- but he couldn't quite line the charismatic old fox in his head with the stereotype of an old rich man, a young woman on his arm with big tits and a bigger taste for luxury, and- Actually yeah. He could totally picture his dad like that. Damn it.

And that's how Logan ended up in a suit and tie, trying not to yawn as he sat in the front row of the wedding venue, watching the bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down the aisle- Huh, that girl looks familiar- it takes a second of squinting for him to realize he's looking at one of your old friends, one of the girls who always hung around during lunch when Logan was tossing popcorn into the air and trying to catch it with his mouth to make you laugh- surely his dad wouldn't be shameless enough to marry a girl who was in high school with his own son, right? Right?

An almost magical hush fell over the crowd as the music began to change- and then, through the doors, straight out of all of Logan's secret high school fantasies, stepped you.

As in his ex girlfriend and first love. As in the girl he never really got over. As in the reason he's never been able to seriously date anyone because he's still holding a flame for you.

Dressed up in a wedding gown like he'd always pictured when he thought about the future, looking just as, if not more beautiful than the last time he'd seen you, the time he'd broken your heart- back then, he'd promised you forever. Now you were saying your wedding vows with his father.

More happened, Logan was pretty sure- the officiant was talking, and then his father and you were talking, but Logan couldn't really understand what they were saying over the sound of blood rushing in his ears. He blinked, and found himself a half hour later, holding a champagne and in the ballroom now, making his rounds and greeting guests- his father's business partners and extended family he barely remembered alike.

And then all of a sudden he was standing in front of his father and his new wife- in front of you.

"Logan! It's great to see you- I know you didn't get a chance before the wedding, but I'd like to formally introduce you to my new wife- the two of you knew each other back in high school, right?" Logan's dad grinned crookedly, like he hadn't been the one to stay up until two in the morning to help Logan set up the perfect promposal for you. "How crazy things turn out- she's your step-mom now, you can even call her Mom if you want to! I've gotta go talk business with the boys; you two get to know each other." Logan's dad smiled, clapping his son on his back and leaning in to press a kiss to your forehead before sauntering off.

Logan briefly thought about actually calling you mom- before shoving it deep down into the depths of his subconscious when he realized that he was not ready to have something awakened in him in the middle of his fathers wedding.

He coughed a bit, trying to hide his blush. "Ah- it's been a while, huh?"Wow, A+ start. We got a real ladies man here. He tried not to grimace. "You look... good."

He took a sip of his champagne, praying to any god that would listen to strike him with lightning- surely that would be a kinder fate than dealing with the fact that he's still in love with his new stepmom.
