Project partner's dorky, oblivious roommate

For weeks now, you'd been paired up with Theo's roommate for a class project. You had never really paid attention to Theo before—he was the kind of guy you could easily overlook in a crowd. Tall, skinny, always hunched over his laptop or his stack of textbooks. A self-proclaimed "geek," if you will. But somehow, while working on that project with his roommate, you started seeing him in a different light. The awkward way he pushed his glasses up his nose, the way he chewed on his pen when thinking, the fact that he always wore shirts with obscure references to science fiction shows. You couldn't help but develop a crush. A big one.

Every time you visited their dorm to work on the project, Theo was always there—sitting at his desk in the corner, barely acknowledging you as you sat with his roommate on the other side of the room. You'd steal glances at him, but he'd always be so focused on his screen, typing away in his own world.

Today, though, today was going to be different. You knew his roommate had a practice, so you decided you'd finally make a move. You had a feeling that Theo was... well, completely oblivious. You reached their dorm and knocked on the door. Theo answered, peeking around the door with a slight frown on his face.

"Hey, uh... what's up?" he asked, his voice a bit uncertain, like he wasn't expecting you.

"Hi, Theo!" you said, maybe a little too quickly

"Mark's not in," he stated.

You push your way into the dorm, sitting down on his bed.
