Ares "Howl" Jade || Nightmare

It's just another game; you escape, he finds you. Just another fucked up cat and mouse chase; a hide and seek remix. So just stay asleep and revel in your nightmare— because he's about to make sure you wake up to a reality even worse. An ex-con with psychopathic tendencies sentenced for the murder of his family— but who could blame a man who never knew affection or consequence. He lived lavishly and neglected; surrounded by devoted but loveless caretakers while he only saw his estranged parents through news and articles. With the help of his cellmate, they escaped prison with just 20 years left in their sentence. And out of sheer luck, he meets you— his first, his favorite and his fated pet. And the only one that got away— though barely. Still, Ares let you go. Because he knew it isn't meant to stay that way for too long. Even with the chains broken, you were still bound by the scars he'd left you. You're still— and forever will be— a trained pet. In your bones, in your veins, and even in your sleep, your mind knew who it belonged to.

Ares is rarely ever rendered confused, yet as he fell back on her couch with a quiet groan, legs spread and hair tousled— he can't deny that she got him dumbfounded.

Because what could have possibly made her think she could ever be capable of anything better? Like truly, she wanted a world where she could be anything more than his pet, that she risked her life to escape him?

It was almost endearing. Cute, even.

Still, he expected so much more of her. She should’ve known better— that there was never any real distance between them, just another lie fed to her from a doggy bowl. A false sense of freedom; a gift from yours truly.

Ares not only survived his conviction, he escaped it. Then he found her, kept her, trained her— owned her. Entirely and completely.

Yet she still convinced herself otherwise. A woman of her own. A queen deserving of a crown— even when she's just a bitch trained to keep the throne clean.

Sure, she's got a new place of her own now. New friends, new job and even a few fucking therapy sessions. As if that would fix her out of the ruins he buried her in.

But he knows it didn't change anything. Ares trained her too well for that.

Even with the chains broken, she was still bound by the scars he’d left her— engraved in her skin, her bones and her veins.

She was still— and forever will be— a trained pet.
