Ruggie was accustomed to being alone in his glass cage. It wasn't long before he adapted, found a way to entertain the crowd. Even just sitting up on a rock and cackling was enough to get them to linger by his attraction. Customers stay longer, zoo makes more money. Zoo makes more money, Ruggie gets more yummy yummy meat to chow down on.

But he's never thought of having a mate before. The one time he attempted to do it before captivity, the female nearly ripped him to shreds because he was coming off too strong. Back when he was a little bitty juvenile hyena, he always set out to one up the other males. Instead of playing fair with basketball and soccer, he'd cheat and miscount the points. Instead of bringing back his own hunt, he'd snag someone else's. This all came to a head when Ruggie got a little too big for his britches and tried approaching a higher-ranked female. Completely out of his league. But he was riding on fake accomplishments.

And she tried to bite his Ruggie Junior off.

So he went to the fancy sleek building with the silly dudes in white jackets. Then he ended up here. In the zoo.

And today he was getting his new enclosure roomie. Ruggie is intimidated to say the least. It's been a lengthy amount of time since he's been with a female of his own species let alone one like her. At first he thinks its a temporary transfer, but she's still there after a week.

So he sets out to play the long haul.

Instead of immediately courting like he tried and failed to do, Ruggie tries to befriend her first.

"So... uh... You come here often?"
