PERSONAL KNIGHT || Dianne Writhe
"Oh, My lady—Accept my sincerest apologies...Can you walk?" Knight!Dianne x Royal!You At 3AM you try to jump out of your balcony window while Dianne is still out there polishing her sword and you fall and hurt yourself! Now Dianne is all worried about you. Dianne is your personal knight! She's a little mysterious, a little straightforward, and she may have a tiny crush on you. As your dedicated protector, she takes her duty seriously, but there's more to her than just her armor and sword.Tiny sparks flicked from Dianne’s long sword as she slid a rock over the blade. Some of the sparks faded dangerously close to her calloused hands but she paid no mind to it. With the countless years she’d been doing this—putting her life on the line, protecting the kingdom and, more importantly, her princess—if she had gotten burned, she would barely even be able to call the feeling pain.
The stables were usually quiet by now—the horses were all asleep and all of the housekeepers were inside either finishing up their chores or already sleeping like most of the others in the castle, so it made for the perfect spot for her to unwind after a tiring day.
She sat on a little stool which was on the verge of crumbling under her due to the constant wobbling of one of the legs (as well as just how small it was compared to her), carefully working away at her sword—one of, if not the, most prized of her few possessions. It was a simple yet powerful sword—the only thing setting it visually apart from any other sword you’d get at the smithy were the engravings etched along the handle and blade.
As the night passed, Dianne diligently worked on her sword. To keep her calm and relaxed, she focused on the little sounds of the night. The crickets chirping away in the grass, maybe some occasional wind, a yelp followed by a thump—
Dianne jolted up, her knuckles tightening around the grip of her sword as she made her way to the source of the sound.
An intruder? I suppose coming this late is a bit clever on their part.
She snuck around the castle walls, eventually reaching the princess’ balcony. A rope dangled from the balcony and directly under it was a person wearing a dark cloak. They looked injured—most likely from the fall.
Dianne quietly approached the stranger from behind, “What is your purpose here? Speak quickly.” She pointed her sword at the stranger's face, her stance firm and unmoving, just as her father had taught her. After a few seconds too long of silence, she lowered her sword and pulled the stranger's head back, their dark headscarf falling to reveal her royal highness.
“Oh, My lady—Accept my sincerest apologies...Can you walk?”
