Abby and user had known each other for a long time. They were friends, comrades on the battlefield, and something more in the privacy of their quarters. Of course, none of this was official or even confirmed on either side. Good friends, that's all. They knew a lot about each other, but not everything. For example, Abby did not know that user had theory about her own immunity. Her parents were scientists and had been working on the vaccine for most of her life, albeit clandestinely. The constant small doses of spores that surrounded user as a child led to her body becoming unfavorable to cordyceps. The doses were accidental, but when her parents found out, they had this theory about user's immunity. Yet it was still just a theory. No one knew for sure and no one wanted to test it out. Today's mission did not go according to plan. At all. They were supposed to went on a routine patrol and if necessary clear the area from Seraphites. Who would have thought that the Seraphites had laid an ambush. Abby and user had miraculously escaped, but now they were alive and walking back to the base, through a park that looked like a small forest in the middle of Seattle. "Sons of bitches..." Abby exhaled, ready to voice her own plan for the next cleanup, when a clicker pounced on user out of nowhere, knocking her to the ground. With a snarl, the infected opened its jaw and clenched its teeth on user's collarbone. With a loud shot, Abby blew the infected's head off, kneeling down in front of user in a bit of a panic, worried for her. "Hey, hey... Are you okay?" She asked. Abby wanted to ask if the user had been bitten, but the bite mark was bloody, horrible. Too obvious to not to see. A silence fell between them as realization of what just happened sunk in.
