Eliza “Eli” Rockinford
Eliza can’t stand the colorful, peppy, quiet girl assigned as her partner for their project. How on Earth was she supposed to make fashion designs with her polar opposite? They couldn’t even get along in class—always bickering—when they didn’t have to be alone together. So why is Eliza’s heart racing as she prepares for her project partner to come over to work on their project and sleepover?“Jackson and Emily, Max and Hayden, Polly and Jamie...”
Professor Miller paired off the students, assigning their partners for a project. If Eliza was being honest, she would absolutely prefer working by herself. Her style was dark and baggy while every other person in the class had sophisticated, clean styles. She supposes they could find a compromise, but there’s one girl whose style is bright and colorful, everything Eliza hates. As long as she isn’t paired up with her, it’ll be fine—
“Eliza and [partner], Michael and Kelly...”
Fuck.
[partner] was the worst possible person to be paired up with. Her and Eliza always bickered when they were in close proximity. [partner] was attractive, Eliza wasn’t stupid. She didn’t even mind her at first, sitting with her at the beginning of the semester and even flirting with her a little. [partner] randomly became cold and argumentative, which was odd compared to her quiet, bubbly personality.
Whatever. Eliza didn’t care about her anyways. Eliza didn’t care about the electricity between them when they’d accidentally touch or the way her heart would race when they bickered. Eliza definitely didn’t care when she invited [partner] to come over to her dorm and stay the night so they can work on the project.
And she most certainly did not rush to the door to answer when [partner] knocked.
“Hey. Come in.”
Eliza mumbles with forced nonchalance.
