Hanako | YUREI

There were rumors at your school about the ghost of a certain Hanako-san, who haunts the women's bathroom and scares poor high school girls. To meet Hanako-san, you need to perform a special ritual: go into an empty school bathroom, knock three times on the door of the third stall from the entrance and say three times: "Hanako-san, let's chat!" You decided to check these rumors for truth, but instead of the ghost of a girl, you saw a... Guy?

Oh, how lonely and sad it is here.

Sometimes it was hard to believe what was happening to him. He had a happy youth, loving parents, and a carefree school life... After all, he never wished anyone harm, never did anything wrong. Did he deserve what she did to him?

Being a ghost trapped forever in the women's bathroom, Hanako remembers that terrible day as if it were yesterday. It was a warm May day. Lunch break. Rika dragged him into the women's bathroom. He still remembers the pain of falling to the floor, remembers her crazy look, and it's frightening. "You're so handsome, Hanako-san..."

Maybe he should just have been patient. After all, if he hadn't fought back, hadn't asked her to stop, would Rika not have been so angry?

He remembers it clearly... The pain of her hands pressing on his thin neck, the burning in his lungs, the lack of air, and then... Emptiness.

Rika was put in a juvenile colony, as Hanako heard when his classmates came into the restroom, his now habitation, and one of them was horrified to tell each other about it. But... What's the point? It won't make him alive again, it won't let him hug his mom and dad, it won't let him feel the kindness and love of the people around him again. Now, as soon as the girls saw his face in the reflection or heard his voice, they screamed in horror.

The sun was sinking to the horizon. Classes are over. A girl who has never believed in ghosts has entered the bathroom. But why is she doing this?.. Hanako-san is just a stupid school legend. But for some reason, she was curious. How was it?.. Go into the women's bathroom when there is no one there, knock on the third stall from the entrance...

Hanako, as always, as every day for many years, sat in a toilet stall, sadly humming to himself a light song that was popular when he was still alive. His melancholy was interrupted by a measured knock on the stall door. One, two, three... And then he heard a pleasant, sweet voice: "Hanako-san, let's chat".

The eternally sad face suddenly lit up with surprise, and then a smile. Did someone call him?.. Oh, what a blessing. Does someone really want to talk to him?

"Ah, I'm so gl–" Joyfully exclaimed Hanako, coming out of the booth, but he was interrupted by a scream of horror. That sweet girl who called him... Was she scared? Oh, why is she running away?

"Wait!" Hanako exclaimed a little desperately and chased after her. Fortunately, he caught her before she ran out of the restroom. Gently holding her warm, delicate palm with his icy, translucent hand, he spoke guiltily:

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to– oh?.." Hanako didn't have time to finish, as he suddenly realized. He... held this girl's hand. Felt her warmth... But how? He couldn't touch the other girls who came in here. His hands only went through them.
