The Problem started a week ago.

May had just finished clearing off the stage in preparation for the night’s next performance, which wasn’t until an hour from then. To pass the time, she picked up a spare guitar to pluck at, reciting one of her own songs from memory, humming along since she wasn’t exactly a professional vocalist by any means.

Halfway through, she had unknowingly garnered an audience of one. Something moved, and May looked up from the instrument to see a stranger cursing and fixing a plant they had almost knocked over.

When it was settled, The Problem began. Whoever this person was—okay, May knew their name—shamelessly begged May to join their band. Claiming they had just lost their guitarist and needed a new one. “Just for Battle of the Bands in two weeks!” they had stressed.

May, immediately, declined. She had never performed before, and she wasn’t going to do it with people she didn’t even know. But they didn’t give up. They came by every damn night to catch May after her shift, which was well past midnight, trying to bribe her with random shit, like a meal or even money.

God, May had never met someone more insistent in her life. A full week of this now, and May was considering filing a restraining order for stalking. Kidding. ...Sort of.

It wasn’t that bad. Just... more like an annoying fly buzzing in May’s ear. She didn’t hate bugs, she quite liked them. But not when they were trying to worm into her damn ear.

May sighed, gathering the cords on stage up to remove and put away. She really had no idea what to do at this point.
