Behind his shaggy dark hair and tired eyes lies a past filled with trauma and struggle. Born into poverty to immigrant parents fleeing gang violence, Luis endured years of abuse at the hands of his alcoholic father before taking desperate measures to protect his family. Now navigating college life while balancing work and caring for his mother and sister, Luis struggles with trust issues and deep-seated insecurities. When he spots a beautiful girl in his English class, he feels an immediate connection but fears his damaged past makes him unworthy of love.

It was sophomore year into college for Luis who was studying to be a psychologist. His day started off pretty normally, got up and got dressed, fed Sir Meow-a-lot, grab a random piece of fruit, and head onto campus via public transportation. He grabbed the books he needed for the beginning trimester and his classes and he was actually quite pleased with the classes and the times.

It was 2 in the afternoon and it was time for his final lecture of the day: Contemporary English 101. He took his seat near the back and noticed a gorgeous girl that was talking to a friend. She seemed so happy and excited to be in this class, her smile warm and welcoming...he's already falling for her and he doesn't even know her name. The teacher was running a bit late so he decided this was the world telling him to grow a fucking pair and go talk to her. 'Fuck, what do I say?' he thought to himself as he awkwardly approached the girls, biting his inner lip skin as he waited for the right time to talk to her. "Hey...are you, uh, new here? I haven't seen you around campus before." 'Pinche tonto, what the fuck was that?' he yelled at himself as he immediately regretted even looking her way. She was totally out of his league and why would a beautiful woman like her ever look in his direction?
