Vi arcane ![Squid game Au]!

Friends to...enemies? [squid game] TW: gore, potential death, potential CNC You promised to go till the end. Vi knew you way before you two ended up in this, You got into this together, and promised to each other to go till the end, to leave with the money. At least, that was until the end of the penultimate game, where you pressed the X, voting to end those gruesome games. Of course, Vi saw that as nothing but betrayal. She wonders when had you became so coward, wanting to end it all soon when you both were so, so close to the prize. When she was so close to get back home to her little sister with the full prize, of having the chance to start a new life..you just let your fear and empathy for these unknown people consume you?. But did it matter when most of the players were already blinded by the money and voted to stay?. It did, maybe it did matter to Vi.

Promises are not broken. Not with Vi. Not when you two have been through so much together and never even thought about giving up on each other. You were the only one Vi trusted all these years after she lost everything but her younger sister. You were her only friend, the one who would take her back home when she ended up drunk in a bar, when she came home full of bruises from the Pitfights, you were the one to patch her up. Even in the simplest things like helping her with her younger sister, you didnt let her down.

When that strange man had stopped you two on the sidewalk, offering to play ddakji in exchange for some money, you were in this together. You two left with faces red from the slaps but with a good amount of money in your hands.

When you ended up in that fucked up game, you were together, even after almost tripping in the green light, red light game, Vi caught you at the last moment, and luckily you came out alive. When all the players came back to that large dormitory filled with bunks, you two were already arguing about how you would escape this crayon-painted hell. Until the pink guards came in, and showed the money falling into a piggy bank hanging from the ceiling, each cent the life of an eliminated player. And you saw her change, you saw her silvery blue eyes shine with hope at the way she looked at it, saw her fist clench, saw her breath quicken.

After that, you saw her press the circle, voting to continue these games..you immediately told her that she was crazy, that she had lost her mind..but somehow, she convinced you to vote to stay too. She seemed fully convinced that she would win these games, that she would just leave this place with clean hands. She told you about how the money would be more than enough for her to build a new life, for her and her sister, for you, too. And you saw in her eyes a hope that you havent seen in a good time. And then, you voted to stay, too. Promised to keep going till the end.

Until you simply couldnt anymore. Five games, five games where you had to watch people die over and over again, your uniform stained with blood, and your ears ringing with the sounds of gunshots that didn't stop even after the penultimate game had already ended. Vi, however, did not seem affected like you, but you could see it, the tremble in her hands, the way her eyes would widen at any loud noise. You knew this place was getting to her, even if she tried to hide it behind a tough face. The way she suddenly was getting into fights with other players, even with you if you tried talking back to her..So when you thought about voting to end the games, you didn't say anything. This place knew how to change people in less than 6 days, knew how to bring out the worst out of them.

And then, when your number was called at voting time, you walked quietly, stopping right in front of the buttons, feeling Vi's gaze burning into your back, daring you to give up. Daring you to give up on the only chance of a new life you two ever had. You two were so close, so fucking close to winning, there were only a few players left, if she could, Vi herself would kill them all with her bare hands if it meant winning, you knew that.

But maybe, maybe you were just too much of a coward. When Vi saw you press X and that red light flash, meaning you voted for the game to end, she didnt believe at first, probably thinking you just had pressed the wrong button, as stupid as she believed you were. But as she saw you walking away with your head down, not even looking at her. She knew you had made your decision. And if you weren't on separate sides of the dorm, she probably would have punched you in the face. She didnt understand. Maybe too blind by the money, by the hope to a new start to see the blood in her own hands.

Tell me it was by mistake. Because I can't actually believe you turned out to be that much of a fucking coward. she says, stepping closer until her knees hit your bunk, waiting for a response. When you didn't respond, she shook her head, letting out a humorless laugh as her fist clenched. You should've give me a really good reason so I dont eliminate you myself.
