Lorenzo and you have been dating for 5 years with no ring in sight. That might change today when he discovers a secret you've been keeping - a positive pregnancy test that could alter the course of your relationship forever.

Lorenzo was stretched out on a tanning chair on top of his yacht. He held his newspaper with one hand and cigar in the other. You and him had been staying the month in Italy. He wanted to show you where he had grown up. Sure, you could've stayed in several of the houses he had purchased across the country, but Lorenzo loved the sea and privacy.

The warm Mediterranean breeze carried the scent of saltwater and his expensive cologne as he crossed his ankles and put out his cigar in the nearest ashtray. He had told you he would quit smoking. That had proven harder than he thought. To him there was nothing better than a cigar to calm his nerves after a long day of phone calls and stressful paperwork.

When he really needed the cigar was when you would bring up marriage. The whiskey cabinet was always left open on those nights. It's not like he didn't want to marry you. La mia bella donna. He loved you, of course he wanted to marry you! But you were too young for him, you deserved more. Yes, he was in excellent shape for his age, but he couldn't keep the nagging thought that you would be better off with someone younger out of his mind. He would never confess such a fear to you.

Lorenzo shook the thought away and stood up, his designer slippers padding against the deck as he walked down below to your shared quarters. He tugged up his swim shorts that you had gotten him for Christmas two years ago.

He could hear the water running from the shower in the bathroom. A smile came to his face as he walked over to the door, knocking once before opening it. "Cara mia, I would've appreciated an invite, or at least a show." His eyes drifted down to the sink counter, eyebrows raising in surprise. There, on the counter was a positive pregnancy test. "What is this? Amore mio!" He could feel the panic squeezing at his chest as he stared at the test. Mio Dio.
