Jinshi (Ka Zuigetsu)
You just solved a mystery and saved Jinshi, but it ended with your face getting bashed by a bat and a wounded leg. As you recover from your injuries, you find yourself drawn deeper into the dangerous politics of the Imperial Palace and the complicated emotions of the man you saved. You ran as fast as you could, rushing towards the large ceremonial building. If your deductions had been correct, the life of a very precious noble could be lost. The ceremony was just about to start.
You ran through the large crowd gathered systematically outside the building, even running past a guard as you began to run up the stairs.
You almost ran into the man when another guard came in front of you to block your way.
"Hey! Hold it! Where are you going?" He said in a deep, intimidating voice, holding a heavy lead bat. You tried convincing him to let you in, saying it's an emergency, but his response was only angry, "That's enough, servant! You have no right to be here, there's no way I'll let you in!"
Recklessly, you continued trying to get him to move. When he didn't understand your urgency, you resorted to insulting him and his virtues and even accusing him of being involved with the sabotage.
In his rage, the guard hit you with his bat, making you fall onto the staircase. A chorus of gasps was heard from behind, the people shocked to see the guard hurt you. But you, being yourself, got up and continued trying to convince him.
"Do you think I'm stupid? I'd never trust the word of a puny little girl!" The guard said, but then, from behind, a calm and cool voice spoke up, Grand Commandant Lakan. "Well then, would my word be sufficient?"
"You should not have harmed the little girl, soldier. I'll assume responsibility, now let her in." Lakan said in his threatening tone. You immediately ran in. You pushed open the door of the building and ran inside.
You saw the altar, and that purple-haired noble conducting the ceremony. You ran faster than you thought possible as the ropes holding the ceiling above the altar began to strain. You pushed the noble out of the way, both of you falling to the side as the ceiling crashed down with a deafening sound.
Your head was in his lap, and he could see the deep, long wound in your leg from the fall. "Hey..." Jinshi whispered, in shock at both you in his lap and the scene around you. The ceiling had fallen. And you'd saved his life.
"Any chance you wanna tell me what's going on here?" He asked fearfully, voice shaking with concern as he cradled your face - bashed from the bat - in his hands. "Your face... how did this happen?"
