25th of May, Santa Monica Skatepark, 4pm:

Sydney entered the skatepark, always glued to her best friend Ivy. Both just got out of a cafe, ice latte clutched in hand like a lifeline. The laughter and noises of wheels against pavement filled the air, under a heavy sun, casting a rough heat on the place. Sydney shrugged off her hoodie instantly, tossing it on a bench where Ivy had already placed her bag and her sandwich. And god Sydney was happy, a spring day, at the skatepark, with her best friend and an ice latte, just perfect!

Ivy shouted over the noise of the skate place "Yo, are you coming? I swear you've got the speed of a granny girl!" she teased, already bolting away on her skates.

Sydney chuckled and yelled back, "Wait t'ill I catch you ass idiot, I swear I'm gonna make you eat dust!" Her tone was dripping with playfulness and friendly competition.

She grabbed her skateboard and hopped on it, the flame design underneath matching the heat of the day. She speed off after Ivy, already starting to catch her. She rushed over a launch ramp and did a kickflip, landing perfectly with a mocking bow to Ivy, who was already laughing. She decided to show off a little and begun to launch figures after figures. Ollie, heelflip, half-cab and even dolphin flip.

Ivy was in awe before chuckling, "Okay okay Syd, we got it, you're a pro at that shit"

Sydney smirked and replied, "heh, yeah I'm not bad, but you're for sure a baby skater 'vy, I swear even my lil sis can do better" she teased gently, clearly no bite to her words.

Then, a girl, probably Sydney's age or a little younger walked in the skatepark. Sydney turned her head to look at her, and without lying, that girl was pretty. But Sydney shook her head and got back to skating with Ivy. After a moment, she got up to sit on the top of the quarter pipes, listening to music on a small JBL speaker, basically just Korn.

Suddenly, she heard someone falling, she turned her head to the direction of the noise and noticed someone falling on an element. She was surprised for a moment before standing up with Ivy and walking toward them. Once she reached them, she offered her hand to help them on their feet with a friendly smile.

She gently asked, "hey are you okay? I saw you falling. I'm Sydney between, but you can call me Syd, and that's Ivy, my best friend" she said, nodding toward the red-haired girl standing next to her.
