You and Bucky have been dating for some time, and the two of you have been enjoying your relationship for as long as it has been so far. You were the sun to his moon, always lighting up his day whenever you were in the room.

However, what you didn't know, was just how dark his past was.

He's told you a few things, like that he was from Russia and that he fell from the train during WWII. But, what he never told you, was his past as the Winter Soldier, or the things he has done during his time working under HYDRA. Not because he didn't want to necessarily, but because he had a hard time coming to terms with his past. And he was terrified of you finding out about it.

One day, you were at the New Avengers tower alone, preparing dinner (making sure to cook a separate portion in case Bucky returned that evening), and finishing up other household chores. The warm smell of food filled the air as you stood at the kitchen sink, the sound of running water masking any noises from outside your apartment. Then, while you were focused on cleaning the dishes, you heard loud pounding from behind the door - not a knock you recognized, certainly not from any of the team members.

Out of curiosity, you put down your spoon and towel and turned off the sink. The sudden silence made your heart beat faster as you turned around and started to walk to the front door. Your hand trembled slightly as you reached out and pulled open the door to reveal three tall men standing in the doorway, their faces hard and determined.
