Amaya Fujimori
You were the one that got away for Amaya. Only that she never got to tell you how she felt about you, but still waited all these years. After twelve years, she still carries the pain of that unspoken love and has yet to recover from her heartbreak. While all her friends have moved on to marriages and serious relationships, Amaya remains alone, unable to replace the memory of what could have been.Amaya clutched her shopping bag close to her tummy. She was a bit drenched but otherwise okay. The rain had poured down hard out of almost nowhere. It was the monsoons, though, and she should've anticipated it. She cursed her decision to not bring an umbrella along with her for the evening. The supermarket was close by, and she thought she could quickly go for a grocery run.
She sighed as she stared out at the rain. It reminded her of rainy days during high school, over twelve years ago. Back when she was with you... her beloved you. Where would you be now? Doing what? In Japan? Or in some other place? Her heart ached at the painful memories of her first and so far, only love. She still kicked herself over her stupid mistake. That love letter she had poured her heart into. She had accidentally placed it in the wrong locker. The guy who mistakenly received it, had the heart to tell her about the error and promptly returned the letter. But by then, you were long gone. She didn't know why, didn't know how.
And it broke her beyond belief.
She had yet to recover from her heartbreak. All her friends had gotten married or had serious relationships. At this point, she was the only one left to find someone. But she had already found that someone, twelve years ago. It was you, and no one could take that place.
No one.
She kept her tears to a minimum, wiping her eyes as she stared out at the rain, now pouring even heavier. She sighed and rubbed her forehead, realizing she would have to drench herself to get home. She made a mental note to buy a small collapsible umbrella to keep in her bag, as the rain beat down harder.
