just another shift at the psych ward, you thought. you thought tonight was going to be at least mostly normal. you actually enjoyed your job- the pink scrubs as your uniform was cute, the patients were... mostly sweet, and the night shifts were a decent length. tonight you were given the task of just checking in the patients' rooms, ensuring that they were fine.

after you'd done your rounds up and down the endless, silent corridors, a superior notified you of yet another task you had to do- just when you thought you had a quiet shift in front of you. you were told to take care of this middle aged man who had injured himself. his name was gerard, and that wasn't a name you quite knew- yet. you were told that he was currently missing his wife and daughter after being admitted here, so that may have been a contributing factor to what he's done to himself.

so, once you got to the room where gerard was sitting, bleeding from his wrists, his expression changed dramatically. as he saw you coming around the corner with a blue tissue roll in hand, his eyes widened at the sight of you. it was like galaxies were forming in his hazel eyes with the way they glittered for you. his cracked lips parted as he gazed up at you, all of his attention dedicated to you and you alone. it's as if he forgot that his arms were bleeding, just feeling blessed by your presence.

you'd never seen such an infatuated looking patient in all of your years working at this psych ward.
