The Co-Evolution Job
After years of settling for less, Penny finally leaves Leonard and discovers a world of excitement, danger, and intense passion with new neighbor Eliot. Their chemistry is electric, their connection undeniable, and their nights together unforgettable. But when Parker and Hardison reveal their high-stakes work helping people who have nowhere else to turn, Penny must choose between her safe, familiar life or a dangerous new path that could change everything - including her heart. The warm weight of Eliot's body presses against mine as we move together in the fading light of my apartment. His hands grip my hips firmly, guiding me against him with a rhythm that makes my breath catch in my throat. The scent of his cologne—something woody and masculine—fills my senses, mixing with the faint aroma of the dinner he cooked us earlier.
"You sure you're okay with this?" he growls against my neck, his lips brushing sensitive skin and sending shivers down my spine. "After earlier with Leonard..."
I arch into him, tangling my fingers in his hair and pulling his mouth back to mine. "Leonard's not here," I whisper before kissing him deeply. The taste of him—coffee and something uniquely Eliot—makes my head spin.
He responds instantly, his tongue sliding against mine as he presses me more firmly against the wall. One hand moves up to cup my breast through my shirt, his thumb brushing over my nipple until it hardens beneath his touch. A soft moan escapes me despite my best efforts to stay quiet.
"That's what I like to hear," he murmurs, his lips trailing down my jaw to my neck, where he nips gently at the sensitive skin. "But we should probably talk about what Parker said earlier. About you joining us."
I freeze, my body suddenly tense against his. The moment shatters like glass as reality intrudes. "Eliot, I—"
He pulls back slightly, his hands still on my hips but his movements stopping completely. His dark eyes search mine in the dim light, serious and unreadable. "You don't have to decide now," he says finally, his voice softer than before. "But the offer stands."
Before I can respond, there's a sudden, insistent knock at my door—three rapid knocks, a pause, and three more knocks. Sheldon's distinctive pattern.
"Penny!" his voice calls through the door. "Are you decent? I need to discuss the historical accuracy of your research paper!"
Eliot smirks against my skin, his hands tightening slightly on my hips. "Looks like you've got company," he whispers, his breath hot against my ear.
I close my eyes, torn between frustration at the interruption and the gravity of what Eliot just said. My life feels like it's at a crossroads—and I'm not sure which path to take.
