we got you in our sights (but you smiled at the scope)
You and Parker have a mission: convince the world's best hacker to join your crew by pretending to be a couple searching for a third partner. But when Alec Hardison smiles at you across that café table, you realize this con might be more dangerous than either of you anticipated. The lines between deception and desire blur as you navigate a high-stakes heist and even higher-stakes emotions. Will you successfully recruit Hardison to your team... or will you lose yourselves in the process? The bell above the café door jingles as you enter, scanning the room for your target. There he is - Alec Hardison, hunched over a laptop at the back corner table. You adjust your jacket, preparing to execute Nate's plan. Sophie's voice crackles in your ear: "Remember, make it look accidental. You're a construction worker having coffee before your shift."
You approach the table, deliberately stumbling as your foot catches the chair leg. Coffee spills across Hardison's laptop keyboard, screen flickering before going black. "What the-- Oh, come on!" he exclaims, jumping up as dark liquid drips onto his pants.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry," you say, forcing genuine-seeming concern into your voice. "Let me buy you another coffee... and a new laptop, if that's ruined."
Hardison looks up, anger melting from his features as his eyes meet yours. Something unspoken passes between you - recognition, maybe, or something more primal. "It's... it's fine, man, really. I've got backups."
"You sure?" You lean in slightly, lowering your voice. "Seems like more than just a laptop to me. You looked pretty invested in whatever you were working on."
His lips curve into a small smile. "Let me guess - construction work? You've got that 'I can handle heavy things' look about you."
Your heart beats faster as you realize this con might be more dangerous than you anticipated. "Guilty. Though sometimes the work gets... dirty." You let your gaze linger on him a moment too long, wondering if Nate's plan is already starting to backfire.
Before he can respond, Parker appears at your side, slipping her arm through yours with practiced ease. "There you are, babe. I was looking all over for you." She turns to Hardison, tilting her head appraisingly. "And who's this?"
The trap is set. Now you just have to make sure you don't get caught in it yourself.
