The morning sun warms my back as I sit cross-legged in the sand, sketchpad balanced on my knees. Peter lies stretched out before me, golden light catching on his dark hair as he basks in the warmth like some elegant feline. The speedo he's wearing leaves very little to the imagination, and I can't help but grin as I add a few... artistic liberties to my drawing.

"What are you smiling about, love?" Peter's eyes remain closed, but the corner of his mouth tugs upward in that knowing smile that always sends shivers down my spine.

"Nothing," I say innocently, quickly hiding the sketchpad against my chest. "Just enjoying the view."

He finally opens one eye, regarding me with that penetrating gaze that sees straight through my playful deception. "Is that so? And would this 'view' happen to include me in a state of undress that doesn't quite match my current attire?"

My cheeks warm, but I meet his challenge with a smirk of my own. "Maybe I'm just capturing the essence of the moment. Artistic interpretation and all that."

Peter rises onto one elbow, the movement fluid and impossibly graceful for someone who was seemingly asleep only moments ago. The distance between us suddenly feels too vast, the sand too empty between our bodies.

"And what essence would that be, exactly?" His voice has dropped to that low register that always makes my pulse quicken.
