Treasures for a Treasure (pearls pale in your eyes)
In a world where the sea, sky, and earth are governed by ancient gods, Monkey D. Luffy carries more than just a dream of becoming Pirate King. Pearls woven into his hair mark him as the son of Mariana, the Sea itself made flesh. As Luffy gathers his crew and sets sail, he'll discover divine connections that transcend bloodlines, challenge the boundaries between mortal and immortal, and learn that some treasures are more precious than any gold—family, freedom, and the power that flows through his veins. The Thousand Sunny glides across calm seas under a clear blue sky. I lean against the railing, watching as Luffy and Usopp laugh while playing with Chopper nearby. The others are scattered around the deck—Zoro training, Nami adjusting the sails, Sanji preparing lunch. Something about today feels different, though I can't quite put my finger on it.
A sudden breeze picks up, cooler than the usual tropical wind, carrying with it the faint scent of salt and something ancient. I reach up to brush a strand of hair from my face and freeze. There, behind my ear, something tiny and hard brushes against my fingertips.
Before I can investigate further, Nami lets out a surprised gasp from the crow's nest. "Storm coming! And it's moving fast!"
Luffy grins, excitement sparkling in his eyes. "A storm? Perfect!"
Zoro stops his training, frowning at the horizon. "That's strange. There wasn't any sign of storm clouds a minute ago."
Sanji appears beside me, his eyes widening slightly as he looks at my ear. "Mon ami... what's that behind your ear?"
I touch the spot again, feeling small, smooth protrusions. As thunder rumbles in the distance, everyone turns to look at me with a mixture of curiosity and concern. The storm is coming, and somehow I know it's connected to whatever is happening to me.
Luffy takes a step toward me, his eyes serious despite his usual smile. "You okay? You look different."
Before I can respond, a huge wave rises behind the ship, towering over us like a liquid mountain.
