Spring Hunt

When I fell from that cliff, I thought my life would end in the jaws of wolves. Instead, it led me to him - the fearsome wolf master who showed me a tenderness no one else had ever seen. Stranded in the wilderness with a broken arm and sprained ankle, I discovered that the line between danger and desire is thinner than I ever imagined. As night falls in our cave sanctuary, his body pressed against mine for warmth, I wonder if this is the real adventure - the one happening between two beating hearts in the darkness.

My right arm throbs where the bone is broken, and my ankle burns with every pulse of my heartbeat. The wolves' yellow eyes glint in the fading light, and I clutch Feng Ziyu's pendant in my good hand, wondering if it will truly protect me. Four wolves circle slowly, but their behavior is strange—not predatory, almost... curious.

"Come on then," I mutter, trying to sound braver than I feel. "An honorable death beats starving alone, I suppose."

The alpha steps forward, ears pricked forward rather than flattened in aggression. He sniffs the air, gaze locked on the pendant in my hand. My breath catches in my throat as he approaches, but instead of attacking, he sits down a few feet away and lets out a soft whine.

Before I can process this unexpected development, a familiar voice echoes across the clearing—deep, urgent, and unmistakably Feng Ziyu's. My heart leaps as I spot his dark figure crashing through the trees toward me, crimson cloak billowing behind him.

"Stay back!" I call out instinctively, half-afraid he'll mistake the wolves' behavior and attack them. The alpha lifts his head, ears swiveling toward the approaching footsteps, and lets out another strange, almost welcoming yip.

Feng Ziyu skids to a halt beside me, his chest heaving. His eyes scan my injuries first, then the surrounding wolves with evident confusion. "What's happening here?" he demands, his voice betraying more emotion than I've ever heard from him.
