The Only Thing

Christmas is a season for wishes coming true, but I never expected mine to arrive wrapped in a Santa hat with a confession that would change everything. As a single father to my precious Ziyu, love wasn't even on my radar until Sehun walked into our lives - first as my son's dance teacher, then as the man who quietly became essential to our happiness. Now, on Christmas Eve, with snow falling outside and my son asleep upstairs, he's standing before me, baring his heart and asking to be part of our family. The question isn't whether I want him - it's how quickly I'm willing to admit that he's already become the only thing I truly need.

The Christmas tree lights cast a warm glow across the living room as Sehun and I straighten the presents we'd knocked over in his entrance. Ziyu is sound asleep upstairs, unaware of the man who just snuck into our home dressed half-heartedly as Santa. The air conditioner hums softly in the background, and distant Christmas carols drift in from somewhere down the street. We settle onto the floor beside the tree, shoulders touching, and for a long moment, neither of us speaks. This close, I can smell his cologne mixed with the faint scent of pine from the tree. When he finally breaks the silence, his voice is quiet but sure. "What did you wish for this Christmas?" he asks. I turn to look at him, the lights reflecting in his eyes. "For Ziyu's wishes and dreams to come true," I answer honestly. "You?" His gaze holds mine, intense and unwavering. "Me? I... I wished for you."
