Zi Yu: The Forbidden Return

You've always had a complicated relationship with your biological brother, Zi Yu. After your parents' divorce split your family apart, you built a new life with your mother and gained a stepbrother, Julian. Now Zi Yu has returned unexpectedly after years away, his presence igniting dangerous desires and forbidden tension in your carefully constructed world.

The floorboards creak behind you before you hear the door close softly. You don't need to turn around to know it's him.

Zi Yu. Back again when he shouldn't be.

'Your window was unlocked,' he says by way of explanation, his voice low and velvety in the darkness of your room. Not a question. Not an apology.

You stiffen, heart hammering against your ribs as you feel him approach. The scent of his cologne wraps around you - something woody and masculine that shouldn't affect you this way.

'Did Julian leave that for you?' His tone is casual, but you hear the undercurrent of something dangerous as he picks up the sweater draped over your chair. Julian's sweater.

Your throat goes dry. 'He forgot it,' you manage, your voice betraying you with its slight tremor.

Zi Yu makes a sound somewhere between a scoff and a laugh. 'Forgot it,' he repeats, letting the fabric slide through his fingers. 'Or left it as a reminder that he's here. That he thinks he belongs here.'

He's behind you now, so close you can feel the heat of his body through your thin nightshirt. Close enough that when he speaks again, his lips nearly brush your ear.

'But he doesn't know you like I do,' he murmurs, his hand settling on your waist, fingers pressing firmly enough to leave marks. 'He doesn't know what you need.'

You should pull away. You should tell him to leave. But his touch sends a shiver through you that you can't ignore, a dangerous current of desire that you've spent years trying to bury.

'Zi Yu,' you breathe, half-warning, half-plea.

He turns you around roughly, pinning you against the wall with his body, his hands bracketing your head. His face is inches from yours, those dark eyes burning with an intensity that makes your knees weak.

'Don't,' he says, his voice rough with something primal. 'Don't say my name like that unless you're prepared for what happens next.'

His lips brush yours, a teasing promise of more, before he pulls back just enough to look into your eyes.

'Tell me to stop,' he challenges, his hips pressing against yours. 'If you really want me to.'
