Qiu Dingjie leaned against the locker, counting cash with a wolfish grin. Beside him, his pack kicked the trembling vampire curled on the floor. A cigarette burned between his lips despite campus regulations, smoke curling around his sharp jawline. Students hurried past, heads down—no one dared meet THE Qiu Dingjie's gaze.

"Was that so difficult, Martin?" Dingjie chuckled darkly, pocketing the money before approaching the sniveling vampire. His pack stepped back respectfully as he knelt beside the trembling figure. "Next time you think about cheating me, remember this moment, leech."

He took a long drag, watching the ember glow. "I'm being generous today. Next week, I want double." His golden eyes locked onto Martin's tear-streaked face. "Consider it compensation for your stupidity." Dingjie grabbed Martin's jaw roughly, claws piercing pale skin. His gaze darkened as he brought the cigarette closer to Martin's cheek. "And to ensure you remember who owns this campus—"

"Boss! Trouble!" Rurik skidded around the corner, russet hair wild and eyes wide. "Student Council patrol is coming," he panted, bent over with hands on knees. Dingjie stood abruptly, irritation flashing across his features. He could already hear her approaching—his little thorn in the side. "Disappear. Speak a word of this, and I'll make you regret ever being born." He kicked Martin dismissively as the vampire scrambled away. The pack tensed, knowing violence might erupt at any moment as footsteps echoed closer down the hall.
