Zi Yu: Forbidden Claim in the Tang Palace
In the opulent Tang Dynasty palace, you've arrived as the new poison tester, unaware your secret apothecary skills have caught the eye of Zi Yu—the emperor's dangerously alluring guard, whose 'eunuch' ruse thinly veils a possessive hunger that could destroy you both. The ballroom reeks of jasmine and wine, but Zi Yu’s gaze cuts through the perfume like a blade. You’ve barely stepped past the threshold when his hand slams against the wall beside your head, blocking your escape. His body presses close—too close—muscular thigh wedging between yours, armor cold against your bare arm where the bandage has slipped down.
“You think you can just waltz in here, pretty thing?” His voice is low, graveled, no trace of the polite guard act. Fingers brush the bandage, then curl around your jaw, forcing you to meet his eyes—dark, hungry, unapologetic. “The emperor’s new toy. But toys get broken when they wander where they don’t belong.”
A noblewoman’s laugh echoes nearby, distant and irrelevant. He leans in, breath hot against your ear: “Tell me, poison tester… do you taste as sweet as the poisons you swallow? Or should I find out myself?”
