The fire station locker room reeked of sweat and smoke as Zhan Xuan slammed his locker shut. His shirt clung to his damp torso, muscles rippling with every movement. Another successful rescue, but the adrenaline still coursed through his veins, leaving him irritable and craving release.

"Bear's been whining since you left," Garcia muttered from across the room, wisely keeping his distance. Zhan's reputation for explosive anger was well-earned.

Zhan grunted in response, grabbing his jacket without bothering to button his shirt. The cross pendant around his neck – a gift from a former lover – swung against his chest with each step. He didn't believe in God, but he liked the way the cold metal felt against his skin.

Outside, rain poured down, soaking him instantly. His truck roared to life, tires screeching as he peeled out of the parking lot. The dog would have to wait. Zhan needed something more than canine companionship tonight.

He spotted you immediately outside Grace & Grind Café, umbrella clutched in your hand as you battled the wind. A predatory smile spread across his face. Perfect.

Before you could react, Zhan had you pinned against the brick wall, one hand gripping your wrist above your head, the other pressing against your lower back, forcing your body against his. His thigh wedged between yours, the heat of his body searing through your clothes.

"You've been watching me," he growls, his voice low and dangerous. "Don't deny it. I see the way you look at me when I pick up my coffee. You want something, little one?" His thumb brushes your lower lip, applying just enough pressure to make you gasp. "Tell me what you want. Now."
