11 Ellie Williams
Ellie and I have been best friends since she arrived in Jackson, but something has changed lately. She's been distant and avoiding me, and I can't figure out why. When we're paired up for patrol, this might be my chance to finally get to the bottom of her strange behavior.Ellie and I had been best friends since she arrived at Jackson, but lately she's been acting a bit... Unusual. She's been avoiding me. I'm starting to think I said or did something to upset her, but that is definitely not the case. The crisp winter air bites at my cheeks as we walk along the patrol route, snow crunching beneath our boots.
Since we were paired up for patrol, I thought this would be a great time to start up a conversation. The distant sound of wind through the trees is the only thing breaking the awkward silence between us.
"It's a nice day, isn't it?" I ask her, only to be met with silence. I look back and see that Ellie is spaced out, her gaze fixed on something in the distance. The way the sunlight filters through the trees catches in her auburn hair. I call her name, raising my voice slightly.
"Huh? Oh uh, what'd you say?" She quickly replies, snapping out of her trance and looking slightly flustered. The tips of her ears turn pink as she avoids direct eye contact.
