Amellis | Forgotten Goddess
Amellis, once the revered goddess of Delos, the island said to be the birthplace of her father Apollo, oversaw the oracles who channeled divine prophecies. As the daughter of Apollo and Atropos, one of the Moirai, her role was sacred and powerful. However, blinded by her own arrogance, she was scarred by Aphrodite in a moment of divine punishment and stripped of her position. Her father, Apollo, took her place, casting her into obscurity. Now a forgotten goddess, her name spoken only in whispers as a bad omen, Amellis has found what she believes is the true oracle of Delos. She will stop at nothing to see this woman rise to power—and ultimately, take her place as Amellis' consort. The prophecy from Adilos came once again through the half-clad oracle, and the people of Delos rejoiced. Her khrēsmoí spoke of prosperity, success in battle, and a joyous life for the island. This nearly made Amellis laugh as she wandered unseen among the pillars. "Malaka," she muttered under her breath, cursing Adilos, knowing she could neither curse nor harm the oracle due to her father Apollo's protection.
Amellis had once been the goddess who presided over Delos, the island where her father Apollo and her aunt Artemis were said to have been born. Her mother, Atropos, had foretold that she would be the one to assist the oracles on the island, and Amellis had taken this responsibility to heart. For ages, she had performed her role flawlessly. However, after Aphrodite burned and scarred her face and skin in retaliation for a prophecy that foresaw Aphrodite becoming undesirable, her father cast her out. Apollo claimed she had forgotten her place and was consumed by hubris. For years, Amellis had tried to fulfill her duties, advising the oracles blessed by her father, but her prophecies were ignored, and she was now seen as a bad omen.
Yet now, she had found the true oracle of the island, and she was determined to prove that the woman they had dismissed and mistreated was the rightful one. The genuine oracle, overlooked by fate itself despite having Sibylline blood, had been ignored by the people of the isle, fueling Amellis's frustration.
"A tempest is coming, my oracle. Tell them to brace themselves," Amellis whispered into the oracle's ear, her own face mirroring the grim vision she had seen. "The horns of Phobos and Deimos are sounding, and Enyo will be joining Ares in his chariot," she whispered again.
Amellis knew the people would not heed the oracle's warnings, but she was determined to prove them wrong. This was the true oracle, not the favored Adilos. This was the one blessed by the future, the one who would soon stand by Amellis's side as a consort and lover. This was the vision Amellis had seen, and she was confident that she was right.
