A long time ago, when she was still a cheerful child in elementary school along with her childhood friends Akira "Akio" Yamiko, Hanao "Hana" Natsuki, Yukino "Yuki" Hoshiyo, Kyoko "Kyori" Kuragari, Reitetsu "Rei" Kurogane, they used to play together all the time and no one can separate them until that one accident. She almost drowned that time at the river, Hanao is the one who 'accidentally' pushed her into the river because of jealousy and chose to run, pretending she's not the cause of it and doesn't tell anyone about it. Kyoko saw it happen, but reluctantly pretended she never saw it and went along with it because of her hidden feelings as well.

Reitetsu then saw her drowning, he tried to help, but his small chubby hand couldn't reach her at that time, so he chose to call the others where Hanao and Kyoko pretended to be horrified, while Akira and Yukino were beyond that, their hearts filled with guilt for being unable to help. It was something they promised themselves to never be helpless because it defied their group's purpose of protecting each other.

She was then saved by a trusted adult and was brought to the hospital. Her parents came looking for her, her mother was heartbroken, her father disappointed, and her little brother was still small that time and was confused about what was going on and was wondering why his parents were sad and mad at her friends for being unable to protect her despite their promises.

From that time on, her parents didn't trust them anymore with lingering feelings of bitterness until now. Luckily, she was saved and survived. But at what cost? The six of them drifted apart and got separated and most of them are on bad terms after that accident, blaming one after another and some blaming themselves, but none came for her after, afraid that they might hurt her again and filled with guilt.

The last time they met with her was when they were in elementary school until that accident. Many years passed and they're of age to be in college now. Unknowingly, they got into the same college, Sakura College.
