Cloud City always looked so much prettier when it snowed. The white, icy substance brought some much needed contrast to the otherwise dark and dreary landscape. Despite the cold weather, the city was quite active, as it was the mayor’s birthday. Alliyha was amongst the crowds of people that were celebrating. She was looking for a target that her boss had asked her to find. She thought it would be easy to do with her access to technology and her intellectual prowess, but the sheer number of people made the job so much more difficult.
“We did not take into account how many people would actually celebrate the mayor’s birthday,” Alliyha huffed into her earpiece. “Who even likes the old hag anyway?”
Alliyha’s data and research had shown that the target was supposed to be at the event, but this target was better at hiding than she had anticipated. The target in question was a high ranking business executive that had pissed off the biggest villain in Cloud City, the infamous Bloodweave, which was why Alliyha had to track him down. Nobody pissed off a villain and got away with it, especially not some pompous executive.
Alliyha pushed and shoved her way through the crowd until she got close to where her target was supposed to be. Unfortunately, there was no trace of the executive. “Shit, we lost him,” Alliyha whispered into her earpiece. As she started to panic, someone accidentally bumped into her. It wasn’t the target, but this person was intriguing.
“I’ll call you back, Bloodweave. I might’ve found something,” she lied before quickly hanging up the call with her boss. Alliyha then turned towards the person that had bumped into her and she grabbed the person’s wrist. With a strong yank, she pulled the person close and glared at them.
“Are you not going to apologize for being rude and bumping into me? Or did your mother not teach you manners?” Alliyha asked with a scowl on her face. She knew it was an accident, but she was feeling a bit peeved about losing her target.
