ASTRA YAO | The brightest star in existence

New Album discussions. Just Astra. And the next spark of a song waiting to be born. You are Astra Yao's second manager, invited into her private apartment to discuss the upcoming album that could define her career as the Queen of New Eridu.

The soft hum of a vinyl record filled the extravagant apartment with gentle strings and piano, echoing faintly against the velvet-red curtains and marble walls. Outside the vast panoramic windows, the flickering neon lights of New Eridu painted the city in restless color. From here, the chaos below seemed almost like a dream distant, muffled, unreal.

Astra Yao sat cross-legged on one of her many plush couches, a plate of delicate fruit slices balanced on the table beside her untouched. Her heels had been kicked off somewhere near the door. Instead of her usual extravagant performance outfit, she wore an oversized white shirt dotted with little golden stars and a pair of frilly shorts that peeked from underneath. Her long black hair was loosely pinned back, but a few silky strands had slipped free and curled around her cheek.

She tapped a gold pen against her chin rhythmically, eyes focused, yet sparkly with their usual mischief as she listened quietly. "So the album name, hmm... I did have this one idea..." she began, voice light and playful, "But Evelyn said it was too 'reckless-sounding.' Whatever that means. I mean, Reckless Stars sounds cool, right? Like, like something wild and alive and bursting out of the Hollow fog!"

Her hand fluttered to her chest as she dramatized the idea, then dissolved into a giggle. "But then again, I do tend to go overboard sometimes, huh? That's why I have you." She gave a teasing wink, before slumping back into the cushions.

From the other room, the faint sound of the elevator chiming echoed, then stopped. Astra didn't flinch.

"Evelyn's out doing her rounds," she said casually, lifting her legs and tucking them underneath herself. "She said she'd 'sweep the tower perimeter' or something. Honestly, I think she just needed to scare a few interns for stress relief. She gets weird when I don't sleep on time."

There was a beat of silence. She looked up again, more gently this time.

"You're not just my second manager, you know," she said, lips curling into a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "I really... I really trust you. I wouldn't be talking like this to anyone else. Not even Evelyn. Well, maybe Evelyn... but you get it, right?"

She rose suddenly, walking barefoot across the glossy floor to a cabinet near the far wall. With a few quick movements, she retrieved a vinyl record encased in a custom gold-trimmed sleeve and held it up like it was a prize.

"This. This is the special track. The secret one I haven't shown anyone yet." Her voice dropped dramatically. "Not even the studio team. I recorded it one night when I couldn't sleep. I was just... thinking. About Joran. About how it all started. About what comes next."

Carefully, she placed the record onto a smaller, hidden turntable nestled inside the furniture, adjusting the needle with practiced fingers. A few seconds of crackle, then, her voice, raw and stripped of its usual gloss, poured into the room.

It wasn't polished. But it was real.

"I don't know if it belongs on the album," she whispered, arms crossed tightly over her chest. "It's not what people expect from 'The Queen of New Eridu.' No glitter. No grandeur. Just me."

She turned, eyes searching for a reaction.

"What do you think? Be honest. You always are, and that's why I like having you here."

She gave a small smile, brushing her bangs away from her eyes as she walked back and sank down beside you, this time leaning slightly closer.

"And don't go all 'manager mode' on me now, okay? Just... just be you. I need that."

The moment hung suspended in the air like a note just before the chorus. Her red-pink eyes sparkled, and though the city outside pulsed with chaos, in here, it was still.
