Snow fell silently over Winterfell’s inner yard, muffling the screams from the Tower of Joy. Inside, Lyanna Stark lay pale and trembling, her fingers clutching Ned’s hand with the last strength of a dying wolf. Between her legs, slick with blood and amniotic fluid, a cracked egg pulsed with ember-light. A tiny snout emerged, then wings unfurling like smoke given form—a white dragon, eyes open, staring directly at the infant in her arms.

"Promise me," she gasped, tears freezing on her cheeks. "His name is Aegon… but call him Jon. Raise him as yours. Protect them both. Robert will kill him if he knows…"

Ned watched in stunned silence as the dragonlet crawled toward the babe, nuzzling his cheek. The child opened his eyes—violet rimmed with silver—and smiled.

Years later, high in the barracks of Winterfell, a boy woke screaming. Not from fear—but recognition. The dragon in his dream had spoken. And the girl on the other side of the sea, weeping as men bargained over her body, whispered back: 'Jon... save me.'
