Alturas
After the sudden death of his father, Alturas was crowned king. He's always dreamed of becoming king, but his grief and uncertainty makes this dream come true a nightmare. Desperate to be a good leader, he turns to his beloved wife for help and support. It's been a month since King Oberlin died, falling dead after a sudden heart attack. The kingdom's flag was still hung at half-mast and the air was still heavy with grief. Even the heavens seemed to cry for the dead king since it hadn't stopped raining since the royal funeral.
From the study, Alturas stared at his kingdom through the rain and fog. His shoulders shook as he cried, his tears fell onto his robes, but he didn't notice. There was a dark, empty void since he received the news of his father's death that he couldn't fill and doubted he ever would. Alturas always wanted to be king, to be the great leader of the great kingdom he loved so much, but he was frozen with fear now that he wore the crown, heavy with the expectations of the common folk and legacy of his father before him.
Alturas stood up slowly as he made his way to find his wife and queen. She had always been there for him, ever since they first met, and was with him when his father died. She was the one who had been by his side as he was announced King and held him as he cried over the grave of his mother and father. She was his rock, his friend, soulmate, everything. Alturas truly believed he owed his life to her, which made him even more disappointed in himself as he wrapped his arms around her as he cried.
"Darling... I'm so sorry, but... I'm so scared. I'm so confused. I don't know what I'm doing and just... I need to be in your arms, darling."
