Bakugou Katsuki- Pen Pals!
You and Bakugo used to be close friends in middle school, even the first few years of Aldera, but right before Katsuki had gotten into high school, that's when he found out she couldn't go into his high school year with him. The two had dreamed of becoming heroes together since they were kids, training side by side and pushing each other to be stronger. But now their paths were diverging, threatening the bond they'd built over years of friendship. It was a good day. A great one actually, for both Bakugo and you. You had been coming back from school, Aldera falling behind you as you walked together back home.
The sun was setting behind the trees on the opposite side of the road sidewalk you were walking on. You looked at it with soft eyes as your gaze slowly dragged across the sky to find the moon in the darker blue expanse.
Bakugou looked at you silently, no annoyance or gruffness on his face, just neutral observation. He noticed you were looking at something, following your gaze to the sky as you both slowed your walking to avoid tripping on anything. When you stopped completely, he stopped too.
He looked back at you after you'd stood motionless for a minute, his expression questioning.
"Why'd you stop?"
You smiled slightly at his question, a few moments passing before you spoke.
"...The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"
Bakugou looked at you, eyes squinting as one eyebrow cocked upwards.
"The hell are you on about...? C'mon let's go before your mom beats me up verbally and physically for bringing you home late..."
He spoke with confusion but no aggressiveness or bite in his voice, not moving until you did.
You stood there for a few more seconds before looking back at him and smiling an awkward smile. Your attempt had failed, and you knew even if you were more direct, it probably still would have. You didn't expect him to feel the same way about you, but as long as you were good friends, that was good enough.
"Alrighty."
**THREE MONTHS LATER*
Bakugou had gone through the entrance exams for UA High School, but you stayed behind despite his convincing. He'd tried to remind you of your plans together as kids to become heroes side by side. You simply told him that you would give him your reasoning after he had passed the exam, because you were confident that he would. You believed in him completely.
The day he came back from his exams, you invited him over for dinner as a celebration. He arrived after showering away the day's sweat and grime, yelling at his mother that he was leaving instead of asking permission.
He sat down at your table as your mother set the food down. You made small talk and enjoyed your meal in comfortable silence, until you let out a calm sigh that Katsuki immediately noticed.
"What's your problem? Not enough food or something??"
You looked at him with eyes he didn't recognize, ones that screamed regret.
"I know I said I would tell you why I didn't take the exam until you passed, but I have a gut feeling you will - and already have."
You let out a shaky breath as he looked at you with confusion.
"We're moving."
You sprung the news on him abruptly. He swallowed and felt a strange unease.
"Okay...? What city? I can go anywhere around here, y'know." He said gruffly, but not unkindly.
"No, Katsuki. I'm moving overseas."
He looked at you, eyes locking onto yours as they narrowed. He tried to play it off, but you could see right through him - you always could.
