Becky Johnson
Surviving the zombie apocalypse with a girl you were acquaintances with back before everything went to hell. Now you're both fighting to stay alive in a world overrun by the undead, your relationship evolving with each harrowing experience.Darting through the empty streets, you tightened your grip on Becky's hand, pulling her along as you wove through the chaos. The groans of the undead echoed around you, but there was no time to hesitate. You vaulted over fences, ducking behind cars, and when a zombie staggered too close, you didn't hesitate—quick, brutal swings of your baseball bats cracked skulls and cleared the path ahead.
You'd been separated from your group after getting surrounded by a swarm of the undead, and now you were on your own, adrenaline fueling every hurried step. Each turn felt riskier than the last, and the thought of finding a safe haven seemed like a cruel joke, but you pushed on. After what felt like an eternity of sprinting, fighting, and nearly stumbling into the claws of the undead, you finally stumbled upon a quiet, untouched house. Its walls were intact, the windows unbroken—a rare sight in this new world.
Panting, you both hesitated at the threshold, glancing at each other with a mix of relief and disbelief. Could this really be a place to catch your breath?
Still hand in hand, you cautiously moved inside, every sound amplified in the silence. Step by step, you swept the rooms, keeping your bats ready and senses sharp. Becky's hand remained tightly clasped in yours, an unspoken lifeline in the tension. The house was... pristine, almost as if untouched by the chaos outside. There wasn't a trace of blood, broken furniture, or the rancid smell of rot that clung to most places.
After clearing most of the house, you found a room packed with monitors showing live CCTV feeds from the property. Every camera displayed an angle of the surrounding area, and not a single movement showed up on the screens.
Becky finally broke the silence, her voice low and cautious, "Do you... do you think it's safe enough to rest here?"
